Overseer Prophet Daniel Powell Sr. author of How to Live as Citizens of Heaven taught on The Spirit of Doubt in today's foundational teaching.
The spirit of doubt comes to stop the blessings of God, and this spirit is strong.
"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
(Matthew 5:14-16)
Man (humans) have to see, but doubt comes in, so men can't see our good works. We should never be one that wants to see our own good works because it is for others to see so they can glorify God. Doubt does not want your Father in heaven to be glorified. When God is glorified, miracles, signs, and wonders happen.
The word of God is life, and the devil does not want us to hear it.
Doubt or doubting will put our light out or it will dim it. Doubt or doubting means that we cannot and do not hear God's word.
Doubt | Doubting: to be divided in one's mind, to debate God's word, is a divided allegiance to the Lord, it is also to think backward and forward or to think I cannot do this
As Believers, especially leaders, we must know what spirit is attacking the body of Christ.
If we do not know this spirit, we will not know how to fight it, and we will not know if we operate in it. If we operate in this spirit, then we must ask the Lord to deliver us from this spirit.
"I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting..." (1 Timothy 2:8 NKJV)
Wrath: is a slow-boiling type of anger
Wrath is one characteristic of doubt. If we lift our hands with wrath and doubt, our hands are not holy. Anger is not of God.
Faith: is only thinking forwards
The word of God is our life, and if we ever doubt it, we are in trouble! The Lord does not hear us outside of faith. A lot of things we do not receive in life is because we do not ask in faith. Therefore, we cannot pray and ask the Lord in faith and then doubt Him. Faith and doubt do not coexist in the body at the same time. They cannot work together.
"My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. (James 1:2-8 NKJV)
The book of James describes how doubt is depicted spiritually; it is like a wave.
Brethren: Everyone is not the brethren, the brethren are those who believe in the Lord thy God and do the will of God (for the will of God is not tedious or tiresome to those who believe)
Trials: are outward circumstances, conflicts, struggles, and sufferings encountered by all believers, or are unpleasant and may be extremely grievous, but believers consider them as opportunities for rejoicing
Trials, troubles, and difficulties are a tool which refines and purifies our faith. Doubt attacks us from producing patience and endurance. The spirit of doubt's fruit is lack, lack spiritually, naturally, and financially. Doubt causes us to be stagnated and never to become mature in our faith and calling.
Also, a man that has the spirit of doubt cannot receive anything from the Lord. Such as wisdom, joy, peace, anointing, grace, power, wealth, prosperity, not even forgiveness because that person will doubt that God has forgiven them of their sins.
The wisdom of God being explained through James' writing is not information on how to get out of the troubles/difficulties in life as a believer, but it is the wisdom on how to learn from the troubles/difficulties. God's wisdom does not teach us how to avoid tests and storms in life but instead, how to gain a new perspective during trials.
We should never ask the Lord, "why am I going through this?" Instead, ask the Lord, "what do you want me to learn from this, what are you teaching me?" For the word of God tell us to rejoice and not to doubt.
"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17 NKJV). Faith only comes by hearing and hearing God's word for example, through the preacher, Holy Spirit, or reading the word. Not hearing the word of God happens when we hear by our flesh and our own will, and this is how doubt occurs. Doubt comes by not hearing and not hearing the word of God. In Matthew 14:22-33 is when Jesus walked on the sea. When reading this scripture, we see that Peter never had faith in Jesus since the beginning.
Peter said, "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." Doubt does not know the Lord, but faith does. This scripture also teaches us that storms will always happen in our lives, but we should not focus on them. We must rejoice and ask the Lord what we need to learn from them so we can profit from them. Lastly, the spirit of doubt brings a curse not only to ourselves but also to our family, so we must ask the Lord to deliver us of this spirit. Scripture Readings

Giving is an expression of our love and trust in God. It is not a requirement, it is just an opportunity to honor Him. Aside from the supernatural results we will see in our own lives, we will also see lives changed around the world as we minister the Gospel. Your seeds help us feed the hungry and give back. Be confident that when you sow a seed into this ministry, it is sown in good ground and produces much fruit. Thank you for your support and partnership with Faith & Works Outreach Ministries.
