The Power of the Blessing Part 9 (The Hand of God)

by Overseer Prophet Daniel Powell Sr.

Bitterness will keep us disconnected from the power of the blessing. Sometimes we know what we are bitter about and won't ask God to deliver us from the spirit of bitterness.

Today we discussed how a prophet dealt with bitterness because even leaders can have bitterness. We all need the hand of the Lord. The hand of the Lord represents divine approval, it gives blessings, strength, power, and protection, and it is generous to us.

It causes us to operate in hospitality and stability. Sometimes we don't understand why we aren't stability in the house of God.

The Power of the Blessing 9 (The Hand of the Lord)

Turn to 1 Peter 5:5-7, we have to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God so that He will exalt you in due time. But we must cast our cares upon the Lord. If not, we will miss our due time and due season. When we cast our cares upon the Lord, we are no longer bound can go into the spiritual realm.

We don't hold ourselves down; things we don't release are what holds us down. When things cause us to be bitter, and we hold on to, it causes us to become prideful.

The Bible says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Being prideful doesn't necessarily mean talking about yourself.

When the hand of the Lord is upon your life, you will be operating in your due time and season. How can we say the hand of God is upon our lives when we are not stable spiritually, naturally, and financially or when we are fearful?

Let's talk about the Prophet Elisha and how the hand of the Lord was over his life and how he became bitter, but God delivered him from bitterness.

In 2 Kings 3:1, the King of Moab rebelled against Israel, and this is where the war started. Jehoshaphat wanted the Prophet Elisha to give him and the other kings a word because he knew the Lord. In verse 10, we see that you cannot give instructions when you are bitter.   In verse 13, Elisha was bitter. He had a problem with Israel because they consulted with the prophets of Baal. He got in his flesh and refused to give them a word from God. Elisha called for a musician, and when the musician began to play, he got delivered from bitterness. He was no longer in his flesh and got into the spiritual realm. Music is needed; it causes us to calm down when our spirit is all messed up. In verse 16, Elisha began to prophesy because the hand of the Lord came upon.  In verse 20, the kings gave an offering to the Lord. The prophet Elisha did not tell them give the Lord an offering. The kings knew they needed to give an offering to receive what the Lord said. The land would not have been filled with water if they did not give a grain offering. This also means they were not bitter, because if they were they would not have heard the Lord.  2 Kings 4:1, remember Elisha is no longer bitter. His servant died, and his servant's wife came to him, saying that people are coming to take everything she had and her two sons because his servant died. She became bitter because of her husband's death, but he did not allow what she said to touch his heart and make him become bitter. Death can cause you to be bitter. A loved one passing can cause us to be bitter. Bitterness can stop the fullness of the Lord's blessing. Now we see how God used the Prophet Elisha, and the widow did not follow all of the instructions of the prophetic word. In verse 2, Elisha asked her what do you want me to do, and he asked her what do they have in your home. She said nothing but a jar of oil, which was anointed oil. Not only can you not give instructions from the Lord when you are bitter, but you cannot follow instructions from the Lord with precision when you are bitter. Here are the instructions he gave her: 1. Go borrow vessels from everywhere  2. From all your neighbors  3. Empty vessels 4. Do not gather a few Elisha gave her instructions, but she did not complete them because of her bitterness. The widow did not fulfill all of the instructions because she was bitter about her husband's death. She limited the blessing because she did not go everywhere, she ran out of vessels, and the oil ceased. She was mourning, but she would have had oil that never ran out if she did not run out of vessels. Elisha did not give her any limits when he gave her instructions. God was trying to bless her because she lost her husband and everything in her house. The Lord told Elisha specific instructions to say to her, and God did not put a time limit on her instructions. She only grabbed a few vessels. When we are bitter, we will only get a few. Few blessings, healed incompletely, a few deliverances, a few things here and there. In conclusion, it is a time and season where our blessings should never run out! In verse 7, God was trying to reward this woman because her husband was a servant and a prophet. He wanted to bless her all the way down to the 3rd and 4th generation. He wanted her to be blessed. But the blessing flowed only to her and sons and stopped there because bitterness caused her not to take the instructions seriously with precision.  Scripture Readings 1 Peter 5:5-7 2 Kings 3:1-8, 11-27 2 Kings 4:1-7
