The Power of the Blessing Part 8 (The Spirit of Bitterness II)

by Overseer Prophet Daniel Powell Sr.

Bitterness can hinder what God wants to do in our lives. We have to go through some things for God to be seen and for Him to get the glory in our lives.

People will try to make you feel bad and bitter, and they’ll try to make you think you don’t have a relationship with God. They also say if God existed, you wouldn’t be going through what you are going through.

Let’s discuss Job and how he was bitter and how God delivered him from it. Let’s turn to Job 1:1-22. When we know who we are in Christ, and we know our mission down here on Earth, we know how to stand. We’ll stand more when we go through things. The Bible says who God blesses, can’t no man curse. When we go through things in life, don’t think it’s a curse. The enemy is trying to make you bitter.

The Power of the Blessing Part 8 (The Spirit of Bitterness 2)

Job came from an unknown place that was blameless and upright.

Job’s relationship with God motivated him to shun evil because he feared God. A relationship causes us to be motivated.

In Job 2:1-13, we see that Job lost everything. You would think him losing everything (his children and material possessions) would be enough for him to curse God, but it did not, and he kept his integrity. Sometimes, when we lose things naturally, it doesn’t bother us, but we become bitter when it touches our flesh.  Bitterness comes from our flesh being touched.  The things we go through in life, whether it’s God’s plan or an attack of the enemy — we should NOT allow it to change our character or integrity. When you are not mature in life, you cannot handle adversities. Don’t think when they come that you did something wrong. This causes some people to stop coming to the house of God and it stops then from having a relationship with Him. Adversities will come, but they should not cause us to become bitter.  God is a God of adversity.  We go through a lot in life, but when the people we love or the people who say they love us come against us and do not help us, it can cause us to become bitter. Never allow anybody in your life to come against the plan of God for your life. Sometimes we think just because we are saved, sanctified, anointed, walking in favor, grace, and glory, we are not supposed to go through adversities, that is not true! Job 7:8-11, Job was not speaking. It was anguish and bitterness speaking when he complained. Whenever you complain about something, you are bitter.  Because you are CHOSEN, never think you are the LEAST. Sometimes when things happen to us and not to someone else, we think we are least. Things will happen to us, so don’t let it touch your heart. Don’t allow it to make you bitter. Being bitter will block your blessings. Job 9:14-18, Job's friends beat him down so much by making him think he sinned against God that he thought he couldn't hear God's voice.  Job 10:1,16 Job spoke in bitterness because he was excluded from the conversation with God and Satan. Job thought God was against him, but it was Satan because of his righteousness.  Never reject what happens in your life.  Job 21:25, shows us that there's no pleasure when bitterness is present. What Job's friends said touched Job's heart. After 20 something chapters we see in Job 23:1, Job still had bitterness in him and needed to be delivered.  When the enemy attacks you twice, God’s going to bless you twice. If he attacks you 4,5 or 6 times, the Lord will bless you that many times. Job 42:1-16, When we have been delivered from bitterness, we will know and say that the Lord can do EVERYTHING. Job repented to God for uttering what he did not understand. Sometimes we have to despise ourselves and repent in dust and ashes. We don't need tp despise other people but ourselves. When we truly repent, it causes us to be forgiven and those who came against us. Satan came before the Lord twice, and Job got blessed twice. Sometimes we don’t understand the things we have to go through in life, certain things we have to fight, but it is to get us where God wants to take us or how He wants to bless us.  Scripture Readings:  Job 1: 1-22 Job 2: 1-13 Job 7: 8-11 Job 9:14-16 Job 10: 1,16 Job 21:25 Job 23:1 Job 42:1-16

Giving is an expression of our love and trust in God. It is not a requirement, it is just an opportunity to honor Him. Aside from the supernatural results we will see in our own lives, we will also see lives changed around the world as we minister the Gospel. Your seeds help us feed the hungry and give back. Be confident that when you sow a seed into this ministry, it is sown in good ground and produces much fruit. Thank you for your support and partnership with Faith & Works Outreach Ministries.
