The Power of the Blessing Part 7 (The Spirit of Bitterness)

by Overseer Prophet Daniel Powell Sr.

Sometimes we get mad or angry when we reach out to people, and they don’t help us. Or when we don’t get supported or celebrated when we think we should.

Such situations, as previously mentioned, would cause us to be disappointed. Then we go through life thinking things are not fair. We should never be disappointed when we are in the Kingdom of God because He holds all of our blessings.

The Power of the Blessing Part 7 (The Spirit of Bitterness)

The Lord will never disappoint us. The Holy Spirit can never disappoint us. So anytime we are disappointed, it is due to our flesh. And it will cause us to be bitter towards man (humans). Which will cause us not to receive the blessings of the Lord.

Sorrow is bitterness, and it is in the house of God. We must get the revelation that people can treat us how they want to treat us. So we have to make sure we do not mistreat the person as they treated us.

Let us start by discussing holding grudges. Anytime we are bitter and hold grudges, we are in darkness. How can we say we are in the light, but we are holding grudges?

Someone bitter is not easy to deal with. If people cannot deal with you or you make it hard for people to work with you, you are bitter.

Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do to help someone who is bitter. Only they can help themselves.

In the church, bitter people get mad at a message and leave the church.

Here are some signs:

— hold grudges

— they like the sound of their own voice

— they are jealous

— they seek attention

— they do not like cheerful people

— they never congratulate others

— they gossip

People can be in the house of God with bitterness because they never allowed God to deliver them from the spirit of bitterness. And because they had a bad experience with one person, they believe everyone is out to get them.

The spirit of bitterness knows it can stop the blessing of the Lord. The blessing is in us because the power is Christ, but the power can never operate within us because bitterness will overpower us.

We will never grow into who God called us to be or enter into a new realm in the Spirit.

A bitter person rebels. A bitter person finds it difficult to let something go, even when everyone else has forgotten about it.

A grudge is a persistent feeling of ill will resentment.

Acts 8:4 shows us how Simon was jealous of Phillip. When things change or don’t go our way, bitterness can creep in.

For example, when someone was doing things, not God like, and had a large following in the world and lost it when they chose to give their life back to Christ. So they become bitter about that.

We should have great joy no matter where we are in life. Our disappointment days are over!

The enemy doesn’t want the power of the Lord’s blessing to operate in your life; that’s why you have:

— bitterness

— anger

— envy

Never try to be like anyone. God will use you how He created you!

You are not saved until you give your heart to God. You have to be saved to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Just believing is not enough. Get your heart right, and keep it right. Check your heart daily.

Verse 21, Peter said to Simon, “Your heart is not right in the sight of God.”

Simon wanted to operate in the power, but he did not want to be saved, nor did he want a relationship with the Lord or the Holy Spirit. He wanted to bypass Christ.

Simon was an enemy to the faith, and we should never be an enemy to faith. Amen!

Giving is an expression of our love and trust in God. It is not a requirement, it is just an opportunity to honor Him. Aside from the supernatural results we will see in our own lives, we will also see lives changed around the world as we minister the Gospel. Your seeds help us feed the hungry and give back. Be confident that when you sow a seed into this ministry, it is sown in good ground and produces much fruit. Thank you for your support and partnership with Faith & Works Outreach Ministries.
