Leadership Series Part I

by Overseer Prophet Daniel Powell Sr.

Overseer Prophet Daniel Powell Sr. author of How to Live as Citizens of Heaven is doing a Special Series on Leadership for all Leaders and upcoming Leaders.

You have to be taught how to lead. It is already in us, but we have to tap into that grace and anointing. There are some leaders that will always be remembered because of the legacy they left behind.

Two things Great Leaders have in common are: 1. Knowing how to cope in spite of setbacks or barriers. That means a God-given anointing leader knows how to cope with setbacks or barriers. Examples are David, Noah, and Mosses, they had a lot of setbacks, but it did not destroy them. 2. Transparency means being transparent, being open and vulnerable. A God-given leader establishes themselves as honest. They are also a credible person in the eyes of others. A lot of leaders don’t like to be transparent about their past, and they feel ashamed. A leader cannot say one thing and then do something else/different.  We cannot counsel people who God is not with them. They will never see victory, and as born again believers, we can never receive counsel from a sinner because they do not have God with which would result in us not having the victory. (Exodus 18:15-21) As a leader, sometimes people won't receive the teachings (about Christ). It is something that people have to see. So people will see Christ by how we walk (live) and work. Sometimes man (humans) have to see. As a leader, if we teach something, the people have to see it also, because if it does not show the people how we live our lives, it will cause the people not to receive it. Leaders should walk and work.  In a good leader, the people should see Christ, not a perfect person but not a pride, anger, malice, lust, and disobedience. Able men have the power of God and the skill of wisdom to lead. Able men are defined as having strength, having efficiency, and having wealth.  A leader should be financially stable. Fearing God or having the fear of the Lord means showing reverence. Reverence means showing deep affection, love, respect, or honor for the Lord and ready obedience.  That means whatever God says to do, I’m ready to do. Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth. God hates a perverse mouth; that's why He said not to take away or add to His word. A perverse mouth also means to twist or to say the opposite of what God said. God also hates the spirit of misbehaving/misbehavior. A leader should not have this spirit. They should know how to carry themselves. Wisdom is tied directly to the fear of the Lord. Coming to wisdom requires coming to God, and coming to God means turning away from ALL that God hates.

To fear God is to RESPECT God, and it is also submission. Submission is missing from leadership. A leader should have wisdom. The fear of God comes first then wisdom. The wisdom of God brings wealth. Not worldly wisdom or our own wisdom. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge...” (Proverbs 1:7) Four things you should know:

1. The fear of the Lord is the most basic ingredient in wisdom

2. All wisdom depends on the knowledge of God and the submission to His will. 3. To know something but not to know, God’s wisdom is useless in God’s will. Man’s knowledge is useless in the will of God. When we operate in man’s knowledge and wisdom, we are not in God's will, and we have to know how God’s will works. 4. Fools have rejected the fear of God, but fools despise wisdom and instruction 5. Not fearing God is the same as rejecting wisdom outright.  John 17:3 — Eternal life is when we know God Jehovah, and the only way to approach God is with reverence and fear.  Our message or teaching is not what leads the people; it is our life that does. We will feel the effects of God's wisdom, or we will feel the effects of our foolishness, and we will never be able to escape that.  Scripture Readings:

Exodus 18:15-21 Proverbs 8:13 Proverbs 1:7 John 17:3 Proverbs 9:10

Giving is an expression of our love and trust in God. It is not a requirement, it is just an opportunity to honor Him. Aside from the supernatural results we will see in our own lives, we will also see lives changed around the world as we minister the Gospel. Your seeds help us feed the hungry and give back. Be confident that when you sow a seed into this ministry, it is sown in good ground and produces much fruit. Thank you for your support and partnership with Faith & Works Outreach Ministries.
