Whenever the Lord begins to talk about surrendering, that means He's ready to do something, and there is something we have not let go, or we have not done yet. Anytime the Lord talks about surrendering, that also means He's about to give us some commands, or He's about to give us something to do.
Surrender
When we surrender, we stop running from the will of God. We stop fighting God concerning His word, His will, His Son, and where He's about to take us. It's not that we have not surrendered, but we have not surrendered all. Surrender means to give oneself up to the power of another.
We give ourselves up to the power of the Lord, the power of the word, grace, mercy, and submission. Because we also have power: the power to say no, the power to resist, but we have to give up our power to another's power (the Lord's).
That power is Jesus Christ.
That power is God Jehovah.
Saul had the power and authority to persecute the church, but when Saul met a man named Jesus on the road to Damascus, he became Paul and gave up his power. Refer to Acts 9:1.
Surrender means letting go of what (might happen), how (it's going to happen), when (it's going to happen), and who (He's going to use to make it happen).
When we fight the word of God, that means we are not surrendering. Whatever the word says, we are bound by it.
In verse 3, the letter didn't cause anybody to bow. It; it caused people to be bound. That light from heaven was the Lord, Jesus Christ Himself. God's power will always outweigh man's (humans) power. That power didn't only cause Saul to surrender. It caused him to change.
We cannot be offended or upset when we get persecuted. In verse 6, Saul surrendered and said, "Lord, what you want me to do?" When was the last time you asked the Lord this? There are people in the Kingdom of God who never ask Him, "Lord, what do you want me to do?"
We have to ask. If not, we'll be in limbo. Then we'll go off and do what we want to do. In verse 6, the Lord said, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." The Lord does not lie. We cannot let the enemy stop us from doing what God has told us to do. Anytime we surrender, we go to another level.
We have to hear God's voice through the word of God. It doesn't take years to surrender. How can we submit to man but won't submit to the Lord? Man can tell us to do something, and we'll do it because we can see it, but when the word tells us, we don't submit. Power will cause you to submit, and it'll cause you to arise!
The Lord didn't leave Saul down. He arose, and he was sent to a city. Because Saul asked God, "What do you want me to do?" He still didn't tell him. The problem with us is, we don't have patience. We'll ask God and wait a day or one week, then we'll say that's it, "I'll do it my way!"
Once we surrender, things will manifest. We hold a lot of our healings and blessings back because we have yet to surrender.
When we surrender to Jesus, other people will be set free. When the light is upon your life, people will see it, and it'll cause people to be set free.
When Saul arose, we arose, and we'll cause others to arise.
In verse 7, the men that traveled with Saul heard the same voice, but they stood "speechless," which means they didn't surrender. They didn't surrender because they didn't see the light. You can't bring everyone with you because they just might be someone that won't surrender, and they just might hold you back.
Saul did not allow the men he was with to hinder him from submitting and surrendering. Sometimes we wonder what's keeping us from arising to the next level. We ask God what to do, and then we don't do it.
God said for us to do great things and for our names to be great, we must surrender. We will not find one story in the Bible where God did great things without that person surrendering.
Saul was just an instrument that God used to free His people.

Giving is an expression of our love and trust in God. It is not a requirement, it is just an opportunity to honor Him. Aside from the supernatural results we will see in our own lives, we will also see lives changed around the world as we minister the Gospel. Your seeds help us feed the hungry and give back. Be confident that when you sow a seed into this ministry, it is sown in good ground and produces much fruit. Thank you for your support and partnership with Faith & Works Outreach Ministries.
