God Won’t Deny Faith: Waging a Good Warfare

by Overseer Prophet Daniel Powell Sr.

Timothy was a son that Paul trained in the faith to be alert at all times because he had a responsibility even if he was inconvenienced. Apostle Paul instructed Timothy about what he must do, “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.

God Won’t Deny Faith: Waging a Good Warfare

Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” (2 Timothy 4:2 NKJV). Timothy had to have the spirit of longsuffering and teach sound doctrine, which meant he was mature. Paul was also warning Timothy that there are two different people. One who will turn their ears away from sound teaching and one who will obey sound teaching and keep the faith.

He also taught him that training comes with a warning, so he must be aware of these things. Many will turn their ears away from the truth and turn to fables that are not true. Fables come from the enemy as imaginations, and the word of God tells us to cast down all vain imaginations that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. Afflictions also come through the enemy. He uses people to cause battles and wars “...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:4-5 NKJV).

Next, we learned about the spirit of Demas and the spirit of Alexander. Demas forsook Apostle Paul because he loved the world and left the kingdom of God. Demas could not endure the longsuffering and hardships of ministry. Demas was not trained like Timothy. The spirit of Demas forsook God and the work of ministry cannot be stopped.

Alexander was a Jew, and he began to worship another god. He was not fully delivered; he still had something in his heart. Alexander did much harm to Paul’s ministry, and he stopped working it. He walked close with Paul, and Paul never cursed him. He asked the Lord to repay Alexander according to his works. People who you least expect to cause harm in a ministry or to leadership are the ones who will do it. If our heart and spirit remains clean from situations like this, we automatically get into the King's favor. In 2 Timothy 4:15, Paul warns Timothy to beware of Alexander, for he greatly resisted their words, which is the word of God. Paul kept his heart clean, and the Lord stood with him, strengthened him, and delivered him. Prophecies are waging warfare, and we have to keep the faith and a good conscience.

God will reject us if we do not keep the faith, and we will suffer shipwreck. Lastly, we cannot blaspheme the Holy Spirit. Faith keeps us in God’s presence and takes us into glory. Faith is not for us to obtain natural or materialistic things, but things will come as added things because of our faith. Faith pleases God, and we have to keep the faith no matter what because there are going to be some Demas' and Alexander’s in our lives, and we cannot let them stop us.

Giving is an expression of our love and trust in God. It is not a requirement, it is just an opportunity to honor Him. Aside from the supernatural results we will see in our own lives, we will also see lives changed around the world as we minister the Gospel. Your seeds help us feed the hungry and give back. Be confident that when you sow a seed into this ministry, it is sown in good ground and produces much fruit. Thank you for your support and partnership with Faith & Works Outreach Ministries.
